Hi! I’d say happy new year but we’re a few weeks in and it feels like years’ worth of horror already, so I’ll just say I hope you’re doing okay. If you want to wear a hat that says “FCK ICE” on it I’ve got you covered, down below.

First, because it’s time sensitive, I want to say my 2025 movies zine is just about done—it includes TWO big movie trivia crosswords (perfect for hours of distraction), along with a ton of recommendations from the movies of 2025 and other fun stuff. Hoping to send it out to patreon members on Thursday, if all goes well!

I’ll do a whole post about my favorites list, but if you join my patreon right away, before the end of January, you’ll get this zine! Lowest tier is only $2 and you’ll get printable and screen-reading files of the zine. (If you don’t want to print it, sign up for a mail tier.)

Also if you join the patreon now, at either knit tier, in addition to the movies zine you’ll get my Stimson mittens pattern!

See the ravelry or payhip pages for more info—it’s a newly reedited and self-published pattern that was originally published in Stranded magazine.

That happened to be TEN years ago, so I’m on the 2016 trend, totally on purpose!

And that brings us to last month’s pattern, which was actually a whole pattern collection. Favorite Things arose from me wanting to make hats with words of things I liked on them… the very first seed of the idea was I wanted a hat that said POTATO on it.

The idea evolved into hats with 9 words (or blocks of words)—my working name was “9 words hats” and I ended up designing six of them…

Garden Veggies & Movies above, then Knitting, Baking Bread, mending/thrifting and other related things which I ended up calling Sustainability, and Anti-Fascism.

They seem random but are basically just six categories of groups of words I wanted on hats. (Links above are all to the ravelry pages—they are all on payhip here!)

Each individual pattern includes a sizing chart to use any gauge in the sport-DK weight range to get a size you like, 5 different brim options, and 5 different crown options.

You can get all six patterns as a set as well, together in one pdf and each hat as a separate pdf.

Through the end of January, all sales from the Anti-Fascism hat will be donated to Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition (PIRC).

At the beginning of February I’ll be releasing this free version of that hat, which has 6 word-blocks instead of 9 (FCK ICE, FCK AI, FCK 12, FCK FASH, FCK IDF, FCK NZS), just one brim and one crown, and a limited gauge/size range (sport weight—the sample used Sea Change Fibers Ravine Sport). I want anyone who wants to knit & wear this to be able to without barriers.

If you like the two lines of words version, but you want to support PIRC, you can mix-and-match the paid pattern’s multiple options with the free pattern’s charts. At the time I’m writing this, the free pattern won’t be out for several days, but after February 1st you should be able to find it on ravelry here, or on payhip here.

Lastly, I’ll just show you this zine I made for patreon members in December. It’s too late to get now (unless you really want it—let me know and I’ll make the patreon post with the files available for sale). I had so much fun using the clipart and finding all the quotes from Shana Lee Hampton‘s art. There are some more photos on instagram if you wanna see more.

Oh yeah and I’m also finishing up a new item that’ll be sent out to mail-tier patreon members on their birthday months throughout 2026! Phew, a lot going on. Hope you’re finding ways to fill your days that are sometimes good and fun!
