Book Giveaway #2: Classic Elite Knits!

This second book in my week of giveaways is Classic Elite Knits: 100 Gorgeous Designs for Every Occasion, from the Studios of Classic Elite Yarns…

Very heavy on women’s garment patterns, most are not my style at all, but I do like these 2 ok (I’d wear the zig zag one in different colors):

To enter to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what was your favorite garment you ever knit (a link with a photo would be fun!), or the sweater pattern that you most want to knit.  I’ve still never really knit a sweater (this is the closest I’ve come, but it doesn’t even close in front, so it’s more of a shrug), but if I had all the time in the world and could make absolutely anything, I might choose Fair Isle Short-Row Pullover by Teva Durham…

  2. Whoo hoo! What a great giveaway. My favorite knitted item was a modified 3/4 sleeve popknits cardigan: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/foxflat/buttercup I tried to knit this particular yarn into a sweater two different times, both of which were frogged failures. On my third try I got it right with this pattern. It was my first sweater that was stylish enough to wear to work. Knitting milestone! 🙂

  3. In 2000 my sister was diagnoses with stage 4 non-hodgkins lymphoma. She went through 6 months of treatment and then she had to have a bone marrow transplant. Right around the same time I was diagnosed with DVT (blood clot). When the 2 of us were on the road to recovery (still are to a degree). I learned to knit because I couldn't do much of anything else. We went to the Stitches convention in 2003 together (though she didn't knit). She found a pattern that was named with her Name–MOIRA. I told her that I would make it for her. I was a rather beginner knitter but I told her I would do it. The pattern was the first time I really worked with cables. She picked out the yarn that she wanted it in too. I was also knitting a dress at the same time. So here I finished both of these items right around the same time. These meant the world to me becaues they were for someone who had gone through so much to geth to where she is in life. And one of them bore her name as the pattern.

  4. At this exact moment, my favorite knitted garment is the DROPS super-bulky cardigan in Eskimo that I'm knitting right now. I'm making it with this yarn of mysterious (but definitely local) origin – I bought it from a local farmer/spinner with a language barrier, so I don't know all the little details that usually come with a skein of yarn. But it's all coming together so beautifully in this cardigan.

  5. A couple years ago I made the t-shirt type sweater from Loop D Loop. I modified the pattern to custom fit it, but never wove all the ends in to finish it. Six months later I lost 50 lbs. and it didn't fit anymore, so I frogged the whole thing. Unfortunately, I haven't redone it yet!

  10. Kids patterns are always the cutest, but I'm just too lazy to rework the patterns to my size…The most fun was probably the Snapdragon Tam. It's full of cables I've never tried before and really stunning and warm. Also, I fell in love with that color, Fairy Tale from Knit Picks.http://www.ravelry.com/projects/hazellucia/snap…I'd really love to knit Jared Flood's Cobblestone sweater. It's just so simple and laid back, yet has that charm to it that you can't resist.

  11. Wicked is my favorite sweater I've ever knit…based mostly on the fact that it's the only adult sweater I've made that actually fit! But it's cute, too. =) And it was simple, but still cute.

  12. Oh that book looks fun!My favorite item I have ever knit was a fair isle hat I made for my daughter. It was at the very beginning of this year and decided I wanted to learn a new knitting technique. It was so simple and only took me 2 nights to make it. http://www.ravelry.com/projects/multicrafty/nor…As far as a sweater pattern that I want to knit, that would have to be either the tea leaves cardigan that I've had in my queque since it came out, or the cohansie cardigan that I just found the other day.   14. My fave garment that I've knitted was this http://www.ravelry.com/projects/lesleyd/felixs-… It's felix's cardigan. It was so easy a cave man could do it. 😉 I REALLY want to knit Cheri Amour from knitty have the yarn and everything but have yet to get with it. I would love this book and treat it better than my kid. seriously. I've been looking for a book with some great sweater patterns. Please pick me! Thanks!

  20. I want to knit socks this year. I made one pair, hated the way they looked, ripped them out and started over. But I am going to learn how to knit socks this year or die trying. I have to because I keep buying more sock yarn. Its all so pretty I can't resist.
