I’m so happy to tell you about this new ebook by Kristin Roach, of Craft Leftovers! Card. Paper. Ribbon. is a fabulous 63 page pdf ebook, packed with well photographed and illustrated how-tos for projects like turning used wrapping paper into “papercloth” and then sewing it into awesome things……
…..combining used gift wrapping ribbon with yarn to crochet or knit into sturdy bags and boxes……
…… and making paper from old greeting cards, which could then be turned into new greeting cards, or a rad stab stitch sketchbook!
Divided into 3 sections (greeting cards, wrapping paper, and ribbon, naturally), each project goes into great detail, and also has tons of room for creative personalization. I love the horizontal format (in fact, thinking that’s how I’ll be laying out my next ebook!) – more friendly to computer screen viewing – and the whole thing is beautifully designed.
Kristin collaborated with Diane of Craftypod for the publishing part (love that idea of an indie craft business person publishing another indie crafter’s ebook!! keeping it all in our awesome community!) and they just did a fabulous job of putting this book together! As all of Diane’s ebooks have, Card.Paper.Ribbon. has printable pages for each project, with no unnecessary photos wasting up your ink. What really makes this book visually stand out for me is Kristin’s great illustrations throughout – both practical and super cute, love them!

I've heard about this ebook, and I'm actually excited to try it out!I'm always looking for ways to use unshredded wrapping paper and boxes. There's huge stack of unused gift cards under my desk that I keep just in case, but a lot of them are either too ugly for me to give or have designs I'd never use, but are kind of begging me to.

I work in a pharmacy and it kills me to toss the empty pill bottles. We don't have a recycling program (yet). I'd love to see some new crafts using these.

What a wonderful question! I would love a craft with used post-it notes. My work uses a lot of colorful post-it notes. I haven't figured out a way to use them without revealing the writing on them or losing the color.

I'd like to see some recycling projects using broken ceramics like mugs and plates. I feel bad trashing these things that I really like and it'd be great to use them to make something new.

I think the tags on clothing or other products get thrown away more often than they should be. A lot of time they have cute pictures or designs on them that could be reused, and I'd love to see some cool projects that use tags!

ohh I soo want to be making my own paper – guiness!I would really like some ideas on how to use the plasticbags from sweets and candy wrappers.. I sometime use them in collages, but only if they are made of paper – what about those that are made from plastic?!

Sounds like an awesome book!I would love to figure out how to reuse window envelopes (the kind that bills come in), especially the ones without a security patterned interior (which I know can be cut up and reused). I never know whether it's okay to recycle them because of the plastic! Another thing: the plastic cartridges that new exchangeable razor heads come in. (You know, the tray that they're housed in, which you snap them out of when you put a new blade on your handle?) Seems like they could be used for something, but I've never been able to figure out what!

Exciting!I have kids. I don't buy them heavily packaged stuff, but some people do. I'd love to learn some crafty reuse options for things like plastic film, twist ties, and formed plastic packaging. I hate that stuff! Help me love it!

Bottle caps. Not the cool metal beer-bottle kind, but the awful plastic twist-off ones that come on soy milk and orange juice and 2-liter bottles of soda pop. They're ugly ugly ugly and non-recyclable (around here at least).

Oh my gosh! What an awesome contest you are having here! I want to see a reuse for all of the empty lidded bottles that we use like those from vitamin bottles, whey, whole foods powder, etc! I just hate throwing them away!!!Thanks for the opportunity

I'd love to see some projects that reuse all the tiny scraps of fabric that I just can't seem to part with. After I'm done making a monster or quilting something I always end up with all sorts of tiny, unusable bits of fabric that I can't get rid of. This e-book looks great.

I'd love to see a use for the myriad assorted glass vases that accumulate from floral arrangements. They're slowly taking over the cabinets, but I can't bring myself to toss them out. 😦
